“Amber nautical mile” is the sport and health project of the XXI century – International Running Competition created by SE Klaipeda State Seaport Authority and the federation of Klaipeda County. The organizers seek that inhabitants of Klaipeda city and region together with the runners of neighbour states covered the distance of nautical mile – 1852 metres. Professional men runners are suggested to run 6 miles and women runners 3 miles. The names of the winners are inscribed into the stone of memory. This stone with the weight of 11 tons was taken from the bottom of the seabed when the water territory was dredged. Besides quite a number of runners are awarded with souvenirs of “Amber nautical mile”.
